Another railway weekend over a hot bank holiday weekend; with Amanda and I working most of the time and a few visitors.

The plan was to cover 7 aspects:

  1. Get Clanfield goods operating with its new loco.
    1. This hasn't gone well. We've created a new schedule sequence and stored out the clock structure on the factory; but train tracking for the new class 31 loco does not work into platforms 1 or 2.
  2. Thoroughly test train tracking around Portsmouth yard.
    1. This seems to work reliably, as long as a train is fully into a block before it is stopped and reversed.
    2. "fully in a block" caused a problem reversing the contained rain into the headshunt, because it doesn't fit; in that case it doesn't get tracked out again. But there is no operational reason to do this.
    3. "fully in a block" also causes a problem when taking a steam train from the yard to Portsmouth station. if you run past the end of the crossover points then reverse, the "critical miniblock" and approach block are both occupied by the train and it won't then track back into the platform. Manoeuvring the train fully onto the downramp (ie past the approach signal) prevents this fault and should be written up as an operation step.
  3. Create a "scenic plan" for the oil terminal area.
    1. Completed - see scenery section.
  4. Look at the TC11 new features to see what if anything is useful.
    1. The "monitor" window has some similar features to Stefan's LocoNet checker. You can have a window showing all occupancy detectors for example.
  5. See if any of the IoTT material is useful - for example a smartphone throttle.
    1. Not completed - out of time.
  6. Test the split platform with 2 blocks on Portsmouth station.
    1. This seems to work fine
  7. Consider storage areas for steam trains.
    1. 2 Castle class trains can be in the engine shed. The pannier tank + autocoach can store on the track directly across from the Turntable. There is a "spare" track from the turntable that could hold a different engine.
    2. That begs the question "where should Thomas, Annie and Clarabel go". The headshunt is available. It would be more usable if it had an "entry" sensor then it might be able to queue more than one train.

Searching

The web site can be searched: type a search term (e.g. "DAC10") into the search box on the right hand side of the header, and hit enter. the search engine will find words matching the search string in the main body of the site, but it won't search attached documents (e.g. the product manuals).
