Another operating weekend this month, with fewer visitors than normal. We were able to make a lot of "silent" improvements and bug fixed.

  1. We added an uncoupling magnet at Clanfield, using the new approach with 3mm magnets. Still need one more on the entrance to the platform.
  2. One track sensor (24,11) was persistently showing "occupied". It was eventually traced to foliage from the backscene trees that was wedged into gaps around the crossing on the junction to Portsmouth. The foliage must be slightly conductive. 
  3. The major addition is the access gate into Eastleigh, interlocked into Traincontroller. Start to finish, maybe 3.5 hours. 
  4. The oil train has new lead weights to discourage it from skipping over rough track. In the first running session it left carriages behind on several occasions but settled down to being better behaved. 
  5. We had to clean the switch contacts on several point motors. An aerosol can of switch cleaner fixes them instantly, but it was pointed out that I might have trouble replacing it when it runs out - it is badged "Maplin"!
  6. The steam engines don't train track well when moving around the yard to collect their carriages. Does this mean I have an issue with sensor locations?
  7. Discussed the buildings at Petersfield. Amanda is recommending that at least some should have lights added. Can I get wires down behind the hardboard, and then run cables above the backscene?
  8. The sequence needs to be:
    1. Mark out the building positions
    2. Add the pavement
    3. Add the roadway
    4. Add the buildings
    5. Finish with a wall to the track
    6. Consider adding street lights
